(Amiga CD32) Fly Harder
  http://www.thelegacy.de/pics/screen/...rder_AGA_b.GIF

Cytat:
Your homeland's precious limited energy is being taken advantage of by the evil Thargoid Empire, and you and your spaceship must do something about it. There are 8 bases to enter, with the aim of using energy pods to cause the reactors to overload and thus malfunction.

The game is viewed side-on, resembling the ST classic Oids quite strongly; which is to say that gravity and motion physics dictate the ship's motion strongly. The 8 levels all have plenty of enemies on offer, both wall-mountings and actual ships, as well as enhanced weapons and extra fuel and shield energy. The ship can take some damage, and repairs itself over time (for no logical reason), which is one of the few things that gives you a hope of getting anywhere early on. Losing a life causes all the enemy turrets to replenish, emphasizing the restart points and making things more maze-based and methodical.

  http://www.thelegacy.de/pics/screen/b/Banshee_AGA_b.GIF

Cytat:
A vertically-scrolling shoot 'em up from the old school, with similarities to games like 1942 and SWIV. There are lots of big, brash enemy vehicles to take on, plus individual soldiers (these often lie in a pool of blood afterwards, a gruesome sight making full use of AGA graphics) and civilians. Many of the enemies have good hiding places and can emerge surprisingly, Commando-style.

There are four large levels, which also scroll a small amount horizontally, the idea being that you can evade some opposition. There's a special loop-the-loop type feature available, which can double as an attack or an evasive move.

(Amiga CD32) Cannon Fodder
  http://i12.tinypic.com/2dvpegl.jpg

Cytat:
I remember when this game was released, I remember the demos.. I remember the football
version of this where my dreams came true and I could FINALLY shoot Peter Beardsley in
the face. I remember the army getting all annoyed with the "war can be fun" poster and
the poppy motif. I remember the blood and the pain.. and the suffering of a thousand little
guys you grew to love. I remember the fodder...
This could easily have been the greatest game idea ever, it caused members of a certain
amiga magazine to leave.. just so they could be part of this. We all wanted this game every
single one of us, the release date was amazing.. seeing people queuing up to get this game,
people wanting a peice of the action and why? Not just the publicity given by the sun newspaper
who thought they were going to ruin the game by saying 'ohhhh its so bad and so evil'.. but the
fact that the game was so evidently playable. And as the title said; War really was so much fun.
You start out with a group of 100 men walking slowly around a hill, to a rousing theme tune,
and you take your little platoons off into a helicopter as the levels load and have to
complete set tasks to get in and out of the jungle. Rewards came with surviving as long
as possible, the better the soldiers rank the further he could shoot, the faster the team
would run and so on and so forth, it was keeping the little buggers alive that was the difficult
part.We are talking full on Veitnamesque action here folks. There are pitfalls and trip wires and
nutters in jeeps running you over, and the ever omnipotent chopper.. that would plague you constantly
until you finally grenaded the damn thing out of the sky. These traps and suprises made the game
ever more interesting and at the same time frustrating, there is nothing worse than reaching the
end of a level only to be blown up by a snowman. But you too had things on your side, capabilities
to comandeer jeeps and choppers yourself, most of the time they were an integral part of the plot
line and were needed to complete certain missions.. and on the subject of missions.. there was more
than enough of these babies to get through. By around mission 10 they were really taxing the brain
and your patience, but the great thing about this game is that you wanted to keep going
and going. Never give up, never give in and keep trying until you finally reached your objective...
and got to watch your little guys jumping up and down and waving to a rousing fanfair.
So Cannon Fodder.. one of the single most atmospheric games on the Amiga and yet another
mile stone in its success.. this game could be one of the first real time strategy title
s. I'm not sure.. but I am sure that it was definitely the BEST real time strategy game
of its time and there's still a lot of gameplay underneath its chasse.
Get this game if you can.. because it's well worth it as is its sequel, which I havnt see
n here yet, but im sure it will turn up sooner or later, both of these games seminal classics
of the amiga generation. I'm still honoured to have been allowed to play it when it first turned
up, this is the sort of game you show to your kids 20 years on and tell them with a tear in your
eye.. they dont make 'em like this anymore.. how true.

This shoot 'em up scrolls horizontally with gameplay on a numeber of different levels, similarly to Green Beret. You play an elite soldier dropped behind enemy lines who must take out the enemy forces. You can choose your weapons and ammunition before starting, including a wide range of guns as well as grenades and a trusty pocket-knife. You'll have to avoid land mines and destroy bridges along the way. Defeated enemies release further weapons. Kod: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IWDTJ0HA

  http://i12.tinypic.com/2a64iva.jpghttp://i12.tinypic.com/2e15frt.jpg

Cytat:
Coming on twelve disks, you would be an absolute idiot to buy this game
without having a hard drive. I tried playing this at a friends house, we
spent more time swapping disks then playing the actual game, for gods sake.
Thankfully this probably accounts for less than 5% of Amiga owners nowadays,
and if this is being read off the CUCD, you almost certainly have a HD. So
you may as well forget this paragraph.
BASS (as it shall be known from here onwards) tells the tale of a boy who
moves outside the city to live in the wilderness with a group of mutants.
One day, a chopper from the city arrives, kidnaps him, and kill the rest of
them. After an inevitable escape (shown via an excellent intro sequence),
you take control, and it`s up to you to find out why you were kidnapped, how
you can get back to the wilderness, and so on and so forth.
The game proper takes place as a point and click graphic adventure. Unlike
most games like this that have umpteen buttons, like "Talk" "Argue"
"Disagree" "Speak" "Converse", which merely serve to confuse the issue, BASS
has cleverly concentrated on the actual problem solving. You see, you only
have two buttons - the left and right mouse buttons. Left button is for
examine, right is for use. You can also USE one object in your inventory
with another. The first puzzle in the game is right at the start. You are on
a ledge, with a security guard who will shoot you if you walk downstairs. A
door is to your right, but it is locked. So you find a piece metal of metal
and right-click on it. Your character pulls it out of the wall. Now, by
USING the "crowbar" on the door, you can wedge it open. A quick animated
sequence later, and you can now go down the stairs because the security
guard investigates the door which you opened and thinks that you have died
from falling off a ledge (Trust me, it makes sense in the game!). And the
animated sequences are like your reward for solving a puzzle, and they egg
you on to solve the next one. Only rarely is there any pointless searching
every pixel on the screen for an object, and thankfully there are no stupid
subgames that interrupt the flow of the game.
And the game is huge. There must be over a hundred screens, and probably
there are near to a hundred puzzles, maybe more. Whenever you complete one,
it`s always through logical deduction (well, mostly!), and this also helps
things bounce along. The only thing perhaps that goes against this game is
the fact that it is so massive - at one point in the game, you have access
to near on 50 screens, and if you get stuck, it can seem very daunting. But
in its favour, BASS looks great, it`s easy to get into, and it plays a great
game. Although the game pretty much is linear in that there is only one way
to complete the game, that path is never clear to see. The addition of real
time puzzles (doing one task whilst another one is occuring) also improves
the game.
The CD32 version also has speech for the characters, so get that one if you
can. But even without the sound, BASS is one of the best adventure games
I`ve ever played. Buy it..

(Amiga CD32) Arabian Nights
  http://i12.tinypic.com/4gxo3k2.jpg
http://i12.tinypic.com/3yyceuu.jpg

Cytat:
GOOD AND BAD
Arabian Nights has a lot going for it. Both the coder, Simeon Pashley, and the artist, Darren Hebden, have obviously put a lot of thought into it. Every level contains some nice comic touches, which range from Sinbad's precarious balancing act when he's too close to the edge of a platform to the jumping sheep which leap up to smash into his flying carpet (and emit a plaintive 'Baa!' when they get shot). The animation is top notch as is the soundtrack.

However, there's also a lot missing. I would have liked for there to have been more baddies and a few more power-ups. Despite the level variance, it all seems repetitive after a while. Equally, the restart points for when Sinbad is killed seem to have been chosen with little thought. There's also an odd mix of scrolling and flip-screen movement - why didn't they settle for one way of redrawing the screen?
Despite these drawbacks, this is still one helluva game. I can recommend it to anyone with a love for platform romps who fancies some thing a little different.

(Amiga CD32) Deep Core
  http://i12.tinypic.com/4c0yc5j.gifhttp://i12.tinypic.com/2nl66oy.gif

Cytat:
ell, at long last, it looks as if the software houses have decided to pull their collective socks up and offer us a game as exciting as it is original. Deep Core offers us an electrically emetic eclectic mix of plot, atmosphere, gameplay, power-ups and prodigious weapons. Not only that, we are presented with a well-muscled hero (Captain Dawnrazor) from the He-Man, no
ob’s-big-hard-or-challenging-enough-unless-you’re-saving-the-earth-from-the-imminent-threat-of-poor-plot-clichés Academy. Sounds good so far? Yeah, thought so.
So just what is it that earns the elusive praise ‘excitingly original’? Well for a start, it bears absolutely no resemblance to Gods. no siree Bob. Although there were rumours, allegedly, that the original game title was to be Deep Core And The Unfeasibly Large Central Protagonist Who Doesn’t Bear Any Resemblance Whatsoever To Gods’ Unfeasibly Large Central Protagonist. Apparently that title fell through at the last moment. Someone else had copyrighted it in America.
The game! What is this telling us about the game? Okay, it is telling us nothing. It is a stalling trick. A trick that does not quite work on the printed page. When something is really good, it is quite a useful device to make people wait. Build them up to a crescendo of frustrated expectation. Put them on hold while you check the word count on your Mac to see if you are near the amount of words required for a single page review. They know that you are going to let them know what you know about what they don’t know. What they don’t know is just exactly when you are going to let them know about what they don’t know. So while I pick up my P45 from the inter-office ballistic postal infrastructure, I will let you know what you don’t know.
Yes, Deep Core uses a cunningly imaginative system of rostrums which you can negotiate and traverse by jumping up and down. You can use these podiums (Ah, I get it. You mean ‘platforms’, don’t you? Fiendish. - Ed) to reach specific locations crucial to the completion of the game. Lifts and teleports take you to other sections of an incredibly large level. In fact, as I played this benchmark game against which nothing will be compared, it struck me how incredibly large it all is. In fact, it is larger than a large thing which translated into videogame-speak means that there are three sections of the game, each divided into nine levels with small sub-levels branching out from some of these.
Not content with this milestone in gamedesign, there are also arbitrary mechanical denizens who try to do your unfeasibly large character fatal harm. Miraculously, the innovation does not end here. Your hero is armed with a large gun which, stupendously, can be upgraded by jumping or travelling through small icons. Apparently these fabulous little devices act as ‘power-ups’ to your gun. They can be particularly effective by making it easier to kill the abundant aliens.
There is more. Loads more. The scrolling from side to side and up and down is incredibly smooth. There are even little puzzles to be worked out, such as collectable letter icons which let you gain access through certain doors. It is just awesomely gobsmacking how programmers could have thought this up. Where did their inspiration come from?
Who knows then, eh? But let me tell you this. A multi-level platform game. It is just what the games market needs to kick some life into it.

Chuck Rock is your typical average cave man. He likes to spend his Sunday afternoons watching football and drinking beer. Unfortunately, his peaceful existence is interrupted one day when his wife, Ophelia Rock, is kidnapped by the village wierdo, Gary Gritter. So, Chuck is rather upset about this whole situation and you have to help him make things right.
The game is a side-scrolling platformer. Chuck fights of a variety of dinosaurs using his belly-buster attack and a jump kick. Occasionally he has to pick up and throw rocks to defeat enemies and allow him to jump to greater heights.

In the first part of the game, you will have to train your character in the various chambers of Shaolin. Each exercise, which includes balancing on trees, kicking a pendulum and dodging objects coming towards you, will improve your skills like stamina and strength. The better you do in the chambers, the easier it will be for you in part two:
Part two is a more traditional 2D fighting game where you have to advance from level to level by beating your opponents up.

Cytat:
Essentially similar to The Settlers AKA Serf City, Global Effect involves building up a sound local economy before going out to attack other nations and rule the world. Cities must contain housing, food sources and power supplies, which is where it gets complicated. You can choose the environmental settings of the game, in a similar way to Civilization - an icy world or a post-apocalyptic one make things much tougher.

Environmental factors play the biggest part in this game, as you have to use efficient power sources if possible. You only get a certain level of power at the start of the game, and have to build enough 'green' things to increase it further - trees are the most effective.

Once you have a fully functional city capable of supporting military units of any quality, these can be directed off into battle by giving them pre-planned flight paths which can be over-ridden if need be.

Cytat:
s there anyone out there who does not like Defender? Well, silly question because there must be, and if you are one of those people, wake up and smell the coffee. Overkill is Defender for the Nineties and was originally released back in September ’93, when, somewhat surprisingly, it was the first AGA-only game. You do not need to know that it is set in 2690 AD, somewhere in the solar system, only that it is incredibly smooth and wonderfully quick. Yes, Overkill is a horizontally-scrolling shoot-em-up and you have seen them before but it is still great fun.

Also included in this tidy package is another space shoot-em-up, Lunar-C (geddit?). This gives you pretty much more of the same sort of space age laser death action, as you battle the Sirian forces, destroying wave after wave of evil alien fiends. It is incredibly easy at first by complacency is soon replaced by panic and some frantic joystick manoeuvring. Collect the power-up tokens and blast to your heart’s content. Overkill is the best of the two and at £30 this pair of sharp shooters are reasonable value for money.

Pierre Le Chef is famed worldwide for his mouth-watering recipes involving the freshest ingredients. So, when the vegetables start attempting to run away from him, he has no choice but to chase after them.

Out To Lunch is a platform game set across 6 countries, starting off in Switzerland and finishing in Paris. To recollect the vegetables he must first stun them, either by firing at them or jumping on them, then walk over them, in a manner similar to Fire & Ice. Unusually, the game was converted from the SNES to the Amiga, not the other way around.
