Yuu and Haruka are two ordinary kids living in a small Japanese town. Little do they know that they exist in one of many parallel universes until they meet Yuu’s alternate persona, Karasu. Things quickly go awry as the war between Shangri-La and Karasu’s universe gets introduced to Yuu and Haruka’s home town. Only Haruka has the power to stop a massive calamity with her ability to warp the space-time continuum with her “Dragon Torque.”

Most good anomalies in anime are either sleeper hits or very obscure titles that are essentially buried masterpieces. Very rarely does a third, less tangible category appear. However, when it does, an onslaught of convention breaking is to follow. Noein is such an anime, and... it is more than worth your time to watch it.
Using the parallel universe theory as its base, the anime is certainly a unique concoction. From scratchy fight scenes to the unusual character designs, the show shuns convention and walks the path that is seldom taken. Despite this, the show never has to resort to complete randomness or incoherence to flaunt its unorthodox style. While a few scenes are undoubtedly mind bending, they could be adequately deciphered without a PhD in psychology. In the end, a massive conglomeration of little oddities makes the show feel unlike any other.
What distinguishes Noein from other sci-fi action anime is the use of its incredibly human cast. The story is merely the backdrop where the conflicting interests clash. The characters create and carry the real substance. With a powerful musical score to set the mood, the show uses an unusual method of storytelling that fits the character-oriented story. Much like a crazy taxi driver, the plot puts the pedal to the metal before screeching to a halt, then does the whole process all over again. This unusual pacing makes the show feel a bit unbalanced but the series never fails to be entertaining.
This series deserves a round of applause for successfully capitalizing on its parallel universe premise. This may not be a trend setting anime, but the show is a fine piece of entertainment. If you want great action, great character development… heck, if you just want a downright great anime, Noein will more than fit the bill.

Noein is set in the Japanese port city of Hakodate on the northern island of Hokkaido. The animators took great care to recreate a lot of details of Hakodate, and the result is that its buildings, port and environs look exactly like the actual city.

Fallen Art - Tomek Baginski (2001)

To say that "Fallen Art" is an excellent dark comedy with a substantial dose of cynicism, however, does not provide a close enough definition. The film effectively smashes the principle of hierarchies and blind obedience in the military through the use of humor, and this very sense of humor along with the way in which the subject is approached necessarily reflect to a degree current values of Polish culture (with everything that implies).

Sola's story revolves around Yorito Morimiya, the main protagonist, who is a young boy attending high school. He loves taking pictures of the sky at any time of day and any time of the year. One day, Yorito decides to take a picture of the sunrise overlooking the bay, but is deterred when he meets a strange girl trying to force a vending machine that stole her money to give her what she tried to buy—a can of tomato juice. Yorito helps her with forcing the machine while attempting to strike up conversation with her, despite it being four in the morning. Yorito tells her why he is here, but by the time he has forced the can out of the machine, the girl has mysteriously vanished.
The next day, Yorito goes to visit his older sister Aono in the hospital with his friend Mana Ishizuki and Mana's little sister Koyori Ishizuki. Despite it being Aono's birthday, Yorito leaves soon after to take a photograph of the setting sun near an old church on the roof of the hospital. That night, Yorito leaves to buy groceries when it begins to rain and stops on the way home to wait for the rain to stop; while waiting, he runs into the strange girl he met from yesterday again. They talk longer this time and Yorito finally learns her name—Matsuri Shihou. A few days later, Yorito goes looking for the girl in the old church and finds a man wielding a sword before Matsuri.

After a display of Matsuri's astounding powers, Yorito discovers that she is in fact a creature known as a "Calamity of the Night" (夜の禍, Yoru no Wazawai), who has lived for centuries. She is being chased by Takeshi Tsujidou who intends to kill her, but Yorito tries to protect her by bringing her back to his home which is when Yorito asks her to stay with him for the time being.
A "Calamity of the Night", otherwise known as a Yaka (夜禍), is a supernatural being in the Sola universe. Yaka have many supernatural powers, such as: strong physical ability, fast regeneration, and never aging body, among other powers. A Yaka is hurt by direct exposure to sunlight, but the wound can be healed in time if the exposure is not excessive; a Yaka is immortal unless exposed to too much sunlight or has received fatal wounds. Matsuri explains that a Yaka is the embodiment of human agony and pain and that such creatures are meant to always be alone.

A group of students from St. Luminous College are investigating the mysterious disappearances that are happening all around Tatsumi Town. One student, who was researching a book entitled 'End Earth', which describes an alternate world, also mysteriously disappears. As Mao, a being from the other world, enters their world in order to look for her friend, Zero, she teams up with Souma and Kureha in order to battle a monster who also came to their world. Just when things seem to go their way, an accident teleports Souma and Kureha into another world. To make things more complicated, Zero appears to the two stating that he will now entrust the world to Souma. As they travel this new world, they encounter familiar friends and enemies, and they begin to realize that getting back to their own world is harder than they previously thought.

Souma Akizuki (秋月 蒼真, Akizuki Souma) * Voiced by: Souichiro Hoshi
An athletic student who, along with Kureha, was transported to the dream continent, End Earth. At the beginning of the series, Souma has feelings for Kureha, despite knowing that she has feelings for Kiriya; he sometimes gets annoyed at Kiriya for not noticing her feelings for him. He then confesses his affection for her, which apparently is not mutual, shortly before being transported to the other world. After seeing Kureha presumably die, he was able to pull out a legendary sword from Kureha's body. Souma turns out to be a 'Soul Blader', which is a person that can form a sword from the heart of any person he shares similar emotions with. Unlike Kureha, Souma would rather stay in End Earth, as he believes that it is the right place for him and since he thinks that he could be "together" with Kureha in End Earth. Later, after Souma and Kureha meet up with Kiriya and Seena, he departs from the group, leaving Kiriya and Seena to take care of Kureha, realizing that she did not feel the same way about him and thus decided to no longer use Kureha's heart as a Soul Blade, since he knew that her heart had feelings for Kiriya. So, he temporarily uses a katana when there are no Soul Blades around for him to use.

A quarter-beast; she has a pair of cat-like ears. She is also the Princess of Bestia. She traveled to Souma's world looking for Zero. In the process, she accidentally sent Souma and Kureha into her world. She previously saw Xion standing next to the dead bodies of Lazarus and Ryuna. Since Xion flew away before telling her that he has been possessed by Zeroboros, she was left there confused and in shock. This prompted her search for Zero, whom her country of Bestia had placed on the wanted list for murdering a priestess: Ryuna. Though she explains that this makes it easier for her to find him. She is also the true leader of Weissritter. Souma is able to draw a soul blade with fire properties from her, the Beast King Sword Lion King's Flame Dance (獣王剣 獅子王炎舞, Jūōken Shishiō Enmu). Her particular soul blade becomes Souma's preferred soul blade. Her feelings for Souma are revealed when she cries when Souma wants to leave, which moves him and he decides to stay with her in End Earth.

Yukari Hayasaka lives the typical life of a Japanese high school senior. Her life is burdened with the pressures of cram school, a helpless crush, and impending entrance exams. She is constantly crushed under the expectations of her mother, Tomoko, who desperately wants her daughter to be a top student. One day, while walking the streets while studying a copy of Catcher in the Rye, Yukari is accosted by Arashi Nagase who says "Bingo!" and praises her beauty.
Disturbed by both his bizarre appearance and his questionable intentions, Yukari tries to escape, but bumps into Isabella. She promptly faints, and is brought to the Paradise Kiss atelier.
Upon awakening in the studio, she is calmed by Miwako's kind greeting. The trio of Miwako, Isabella, and Arashi explain that they are students at the fashion school Yazawa Arts, then proceed to ask if she wishes to be their model for the school's annual fashion show. Yukari angrily declines, finding the very idea to
be a waste of time, and leaves in a huff, unknowingly dropping her student handbook in the stairway.
As Yukari walks out of school, she is presented with a rose by a handsome man in a tuxedo. This man, George Koizumi, is the leader of "ParaKiss," and he has every intention of charming Yukari into the modelling position, beginning with the guise of returning her ID book. Drawn by the allure of Paradise Kiss
members' determination--as well as George's charisma--Yukari is quickly swept off her feet and into a surreal world of fashion and romance.

Usually am among those fans of animation series that just go through comments but never stop by to drop in the words..but today i came across such a series that moved me.. Paradise kiss is among one of the best ones i've watched..it's realistic with a bit of magic in it..i did want to cry in the end...a series that can motivate to follow one's dreams..nothing is impossible if u put your heart to it.. Using the parallel universe theory as its base, the anime is certainly a unique concoction. From scratchy fight scenes to the unusual character designs, the show shuns convention and walks the path that is seldom taken. Despite this, the show never has to resort to complete randomness or incoherence to flaunt its unorthodox style. While a few scenes are undoubtedly mind bending, they could be adequately deciphered without a PhD in psychology. In the end, a massive conglomeration of little oddities makes the show feel unlike any other.
What distinguishes Noein from other sci-fi action anime is the use of its incredibly human cast. The story is merely the backdrop where the conflicting interests clash. The characters create and carry the real substance. With a powerful musical score to set the mood, the show uses an unusual method of storytelling that fits the character-oriented story. Much like a crazy taxi driver, the plot puts the pedal to the metal before screeching to a halt, then does the whole process all over again. This unusual pacing makes the show feel a bit unbalanced but the series never fails to be entertaining.
This series deserves a round of applause for successfully capitalizing on its parallel universe premise. This may not be a trend setting anime, but the show is a fine piece of entertainment. If you want great action, great character development… heck, if you just want a downright great anime, Noein will more than fit the bill.

Noein is set in the Japanese port city of Hakodate on the northern island of Hokkaido. The animators took great care to recreate a lot of details of Hakodate, and the result is that its buildings, port and environs look exactly like the actual city.
